I booked my daughter’s car in at the garage following a phone call with Andy who confirmed he could sort the issue which was the steering failure light intermittently coming on and off. 3 hours after dropping off the car, I received a phone call from Andy telling me that the battery was no good. I explained that it was only a year old and was still under warranty. He told me to collect the car, get the battery sorted then book the car in again before he could look at it again. Took the car to Halfords where the battery was purchased from, they checked the same and informed me that there was nothing wrong with the battery, two members of staff checked the readings. Took the car back to CMS and informed Andy that the battery was fine. He said Halfords were bound to say that because that’s where the battery was purchased from. Andy told me I had to pay £30 and I could have my car key back. I asked what the £30 was for, he said a diagnostic check. I didn’t ask for one and if I had wanted one then I would have taken the car to a garage closer to me who only charge £15!! I had no choice but to pay the £30 in order to get my key back. Went back to Halfords to have the battery checked yet again and once more the guy confirmed the battery was fine 91% and gave me a printout of the readings. however Andy at CMS said it was 21% How can the difference between the readings be so varied?? Took the car to another garage who sorted the problem straight away without having to replace the battery, as this had nothing to do with my problem, and half an hour later I was driving the car home all sorted. The guy at the garage said that I’m within my right to ask for my £30 back. Tried ringing CMS several times but they do not answer my calls. Do not use this company.
